NEW DELHI, Aug 2: Rice basmati prices strengthened up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on persistent buying by exporters against restricted arrivals from producing regions.
However, wheat and its products eased on increased supplies against subdued demand.
Traders said persistent buying by exporters against limited arrivals from producing belts mainly strengthened rice basmati prices.
Increased supplies against subdued demand from flour mills mainly kept pressure on wheat prices, they said.
In the national capital, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety edged higher to Rs 8,000-11,000 from previous level of Rs 7,900-10,800 per quintal.
On the other hand, wheat dara (for mills) declined by Rs 10 to Rs 1,565-1,570 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by Rs 15 to Rs 1,570-1,575 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills and maida were also quoted lower at Rs 830-840 and Rs 935-945 instead of Rs 840-845 and Rs 900-980 per 50 kg respectively.
