Revive cricket ties

Sir,
This is with reference to the news item ‘‘Pak Hindus oppose revival of cricket series” DE Aug 27, 2012.
Being  the lover of the game it does not go well with my taste but as a victim of profligacy I still bear into my mind, the jerks and jolts caused to our community during a cricket series between India and Pakistan prior to mass migration in 1990. Though it was the emotional outburst of a few frenzied fans yet the brunt of the game, no matter whether India won or lost, was seen by stone pelting and fine crackers aimed at the houses of the community people. The pieces of the smashes glass panes and windows were commonly seen here and there. I still ponder over as what was the role of minority community in winning over the game who one daves to support the revival of such games which shatter  not only the homes of the people but their confidence and trust as well.
But I am of the belief that cricket never teaches hatred & sarcasm and nobody should try to sacrify the game at the altar of region, religion, cast and creed etc. Games like cricket provide the people, who are surcharged with stressful hours at work place, with some moments of joy, entertainment and relaxation.
Hindu families from Pakistan have a right to raise their voice against the atrocities such as extortions, kidnappings and forced conversions but the game of cricket should be left untouched for the sake of game lovers all over the world. Handful of unscruplous fellows cannot be allowed to spoil the show.
I am highly in support of the revival of cricket series between the two arch rivals and also have an ardent desire to return to my home in valley and watch the game alongwith my friends and neighbours of yesteryears, once again. Alas !
Yours etc…
