JAMMU, Mar 30: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) in a meeting at New Delhi today retreated it’s demand that the return of lakhs of displaced KPs is not acceptable if it does not fulfill their wishes and aspirations.
The meeting, which was chaired by KPC chief, Kundan Kashmiri also demanded that the cantors of rehabilitation plan for the displaced Pandits be discussed with community leadership so that their apprehensions and doubts are removed before setting the formula in motion.
Kashmiri stated that displaced KPs have already conveyed that they would neither return to clusters nor previous locations where 80–85% of Kashmiri Pandit houses and 85-90% of the agriculture and other land has been sold under distress sale or forcibly occupied and encroached in villages and towns where they have no houses to live, no land to cultivate, no shops and other business establishments. Above all their security concerns are very important and no compromise on the same be made.
Rejecting clusters and settlement in ancestral places he said that the only place for their permanent settlement is at the land of Kashyap in Kashmir valley. This is only acceptable and viable solution to their over 31 year old problem.
He urged the Government that if it is sincere on the return of the community it should initiate a meaningful dialogue with cross section of the community. He also appealed the community to have a united approach on the issue.
