Retd police personnel highlight demands

JAMMU, Mar 27: A meeting of All J&K Retired Non Gazetted Police Personnel was held here under the presidentship of Ajeet Singh, wherein they highlighted their demands.
During the meeting, speakers highlighted various demands of police personnel including enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000, 15% reservation quota for wards of police personnel in Police Department and constitution of a committee at PHQ to frame a policy to adjust the police retirees in public and private sectors, sanction of at least Rs 50, 000 as marriage fund for their wards besides sanctioning Rs 5000 at the time of death of police personnel for performing the last rites of the deceased.
The meeting also decided to request Director General of Police (DGP), J&K to take up the case of pay anomalies of Constables to ASI with the Government, as per SRO-14, the file of which is pending with the Finance Minister Office for issuing necessary orders in this regard.
The speakers also requested the DGP to issue orders to all SSPs regarding providing Guard of Honour to the deceased police personnel (retd) at the cremation ground and hold welfare melas as envisaged in Government order with regard to welfare of retirees to solve their problems. They also urged the DGP to direct all Medical Superintendents, Police Hospital, to provide the life saving medicines to the needy police personnel from the Police Hospital.
It was also urged to DGP to reimburse the medical bills of the retirees out of welfare fund and approach the State Government for issuing an ordinance similar to the Central Government’s one rank one pension, for the benefit of police retirees.
