RAMBAN, Jan 18: A retired Public Health Engineering (PHE) employee was killed, while nine others received injuries, when the Tata Sumo they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Halwagan area, falling under the jurisdiction of Ramsoo Police Station.

The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK14B-0106, was on its way to Neel from Magarkot, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into gorge near Halwagan, resulting into on the spot death of one person and injuries to nine others.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. All the injured persons were shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ukhral, from where 7 injured persons were referred to District Hospital Ramban.
After first aid, the seven injured persons admitted in District Hospital Ramban were further referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for advanced treatment.
The body of the deceased identified as 60-year-old Gulam Rasool (retd PHE employee), son of Abdul Samdo of Halogan was shifted to PHC Ukhral and after completing legal formalities, the body was later handed over to family members for last rites.
The injured have been identified as Sheela Devi (45), wife of Pawan Singh of Ludu, Fareed Ahmed (35), son of Mohammad Hanief of Neel, Mohammad Ramzan (30), son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Neel, Mohammad Shafi (55), son of Abdullah of Gogoni Neel, Nagina Begum (35), wife of Mashqoor Ahmed of Gogoni Neel, Karnail Singh (17), son of Pawan Singh and Gulam Mohi-ud-Din (45), son of Ghulam Sheikh of Neel, Abdul Gani (50), son of Abdullah of Neel and Shah Nawaz, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Neel.
A case in this regard has been registered at Ramsoo Police Station and investigation started.
