SEC gives more relaxations in Kishtwar, Poonch

JAMMU, June 5: Retired Principal and District Sessions Judge and Executive Engineer besides four women were among the Corona fatalities while positive cases further declined to 453 in Jammu region today.

Thirteen COVID casualties were reported in the region including four each in Jammu and Rajouri districts, three in Kathua and one each in Samba and Doda.
A Retired Principal District and Sessions Judge hailing from Janipura died of COVID-19 in Amandeep Hospital at Amritsar where he was under treatment. He was cremated at Shastri Nagar cremation ground as per COVID protocol.
Shiv Kumar Gupta, who had retired as Executive Engineer in Civil Construction Division at Ladakh, succumbed to the virus in Leh. He hailed from Kathua but was yet to return to his hometown after retirement. He had long tenure of positing in Ladakh and was also cremated in Leh.
Four women were among the COVID victims including 39-year-old from Bantalab, 73-year-old from Jandi Hiranagar, 75-year-old from Begnoara in Rajouri and 64-year-old from Nud in Samba district.
Thirteen casualties have taken Corona toll in the region to 1973, the highest being 1094 in Jammu district followed by 193 Rajouri, 143 Kathua, 128 Udhampur, 114 Samba, 93 Doda, 79 Poonch, 56 Ramban, 38 Reasi and 35 in Kishtwar district.
Meanwhile, the State Executive Committee (SEC) today announced further relaxations in COVID lockdown in Poonch and Kishtwar districts due to improvement in situation there.
An SEC order said that border shops, salons and parlors will remain open four days a week (except Saturday and Sundays) in the two districts as per the days to be notified by the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
“Standalone shops, outdoor bazaars and outdoor shopping complexes will also open for four days except weekend,” the order said.
The SEC ordered that wholesale trade of liquor will operate five days in a week except weekend in the entire Union Territory.
Meanwhile, out of 453 COVID positive cases reported today, 106 were detected in Jammu district, 80 Rajouri, 59 Poonch, 51 Doda, 39 Kathua, 33 Ramban, 28 each Kishtwar and Udhampur, 18 Reasi and 11 in Samba district.
As against 453 fresh cases, 842 persons recovered from the virus including 501 in Jammu district, 85 Kathua, 81 Rajouri, 61 Poonch, 45 Udhampur, 26 Doda, 16 Samba, 15 Reasi and 12 in Ramban district.
With today’s 453 positives, Corona cases in Jammu region have gone up to 1,14,551 including 10210 active positives, 1,02,368 recoveries and 1973 casualties.
Meanwhile, apart from one COVID casualty, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 122 fresh positive cases including 115 in Leh and seven in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 19076 Corona cases. Of them, 1354 are active positives while 17528 have recovered from the virus and there have been 194 casualties—140 in Leh and 54 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Leh Shrikant Balasaheb Suse today announced the process of Unlock in the district.
While some of the shops will open all days 24×7, others will open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 1 pm. Rest of the shops will open on alternate days with different timings.
However, weekend curfew will remain in place in addition to night curfew on all days from 9 pm to 5 am, Suse said.
He added that public transport, private offices and salon/barber shops/beauty parlous/Spa/Gyms will remain closed.
However, District Magistrate Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve has extended Corona curfew in Kargil district from 7 am on June 7 to 7 am June 14.
