JAMMU, July 5: All J&K Retired Police Personnel NGO and Others Forum today held a protest demonstration outside Press Club here to press the Government to consider their genuine demands.
A large number of retired police personnel under the leadership Forum president, Ajit Singh, gathered in front of the Press Club and started raised slogans against the Government for ignoring their demands.
Addressing the protesting retired cops, Ajit Singh said that the Government Order No 229-F of 2014 dated October 17, 2014, regarding pay anomalies is not acceptable to them, as the effect is being given prospective, which means the effect will be given from the date of order.
He said that with the implementation of this order, a lot of injustice has been done with the retired police personnel, who are struggling right from 1996. Alleging that some of the strugglers have expired, he asserted that the surviving ones should be given justice by giving the effect of this order at least from 1996.
Referring to the ordinance issued by Central Government regarding one rank one pension for defence personnel, he demanded the State Government to bring such an ordinance in favour of State police personnel and get it passed.
Alleging that the sub-standard ration is being provided to the battalions and COC Fund is being misused by the officers, the Forum said this is injustice with the police personnel and the administration should ensure that such things do not happen.
The other demands of the Forum include enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000, making transfer policy of police department transparent and regularizing services of SPOs.
