Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Mar 5: Former minister and chairman, Nature Mankind Friendly Global Party, Babu Singh today demanded early restoration of statehood before holding free and fair Assembly elections in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference here today, Babu Singh, who was flanked by party leaders- Raj Singh, Imtiaz Hussain Mir, Abdul Rauf Lone and Gurdev Singh, said that unfortunate development in the history of J&K on August 5, 2019, brought miseries for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. On this day , Articles 370 and 35-A were abrogated and this historic state was disintegrated and converted into two Union Territories . The state was de-graded and its people were left to face miseries and jolts after jolts by the present Union Government.
While launching scathing attack on the BJP Government at the Centre, Babu Singh said his party strongly opposes this act of Modi Government and demands restoration of Statehood with special status as granted under Articles 370 and 35-A and fully empowered State Legislative Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir.
Describing the Delimitation exercise in the Jammu and Kashmir as unconstitutional, the former minister said that this exercise is being initiated with malafide intentions. There is strong opposition to some decisions of this Delimitation Commission from various quarters. This exercise must be stopped immediately, he regretted.
Babu Singh said the Modi Government should first restore statehood with all the rights as earlier granted by Govt of India and special status to J&K and then hold delimitation exercise by listening all stake holders and then free and fair elections in J&K by granting full powers to the State Assembly.
For waging united struggle, Singh said, all the like minded parties who are struggling for restoration of Statehood and Art 370 should come on one platform and launch a strong and united struggle. He said his party offers to wage united struggle for the restoration of all the snatched rights and special status of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that his party will also participate in the elections after restoration statehood to J&K.
Senior party leader advocate Imtiaz Mir, Daljit Singh and Raj Singh also interacted with the media during conference.
