‘Those who brought J&K to destruction will be unmasked’

KATRA, Mar 6: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to installation of representative Government with holding of Assembly poll in the Union Territory of J&K and restoration of Statehood to it but party will fight tooth and nail to the forces inimical to national interests and supporting the anti national elements.
This was stated by party national general secretary and incharge UTs of J&K and Ladakh, Tarun Chug while addressing a party office bearers meeting here this evening. Chug, who reached here, today to take part in two days BJP office bearers and Working Committee meeting lashed out at former Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti for stating that the Enforcement Directorate ‘s (ED) action against her is based on political vendetta.
Ridiculing her, he said “If Mehbooba would have not indulged in such activities, the ED would never have summoned her”. He said Wahid Parra, who has been arrested in terror related activities was a PDP man and close aide of its chief. He had close links with former DySP JKP Devender Singh also who hatched a conspiracy against the nation.
Chug said ED has not done any thing wrong and it will do every thing which is right and in the interests of the nation. Mehbooba should have refrained from including people like Parra in her party and appointing them on key position, he added.
The BJP national general secretary later talking to this reporter on phone said that Assembly elections will be held in J&K and it is also one of the priorities of BJP, besides restoration of statehood to it. However, BJP’s main agenda at present is restoration of peace in the trouble-torn UT and its development. “We want to win the trust of the people by taking the UT on the path of development and unmask those who played the destructive politics in the erstwhile State for last seven decades and brought J&K to such a devastating path”, he added.
Chug said BJP office bearers meeting welcomed the decision of August 5, 2019 regarding re-organisation of J&K as the UT is fast moving on the path of progress and development since then under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said this is the first Working Committee meeting after COVID gripped the world last year as no Working Committee meeting could be held in 2020 due to pandemic. He complimented the people of J&K for trusting BJP by giving it majority of seats in DDC poll. He said it is the great achievement for the party and Government that nine lakh people cast their vote in DDC elections in 10 districts of Kashmir Valley.
It may be recalled that the UT Office bearers meeting which began this evening will be followed by Working Committee meet tomorrow in which the party’s political resolution will be passed. The resolution was discussed in office bearers meeting today.
Besides, Tarun Chug, J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina, BJP Seh-Prabhari, Ashish Sood, national secretary, Dr. Narinder Singh, former State presidents, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Jugal Kishore Sharma MP and Sat Sharma former Minister, general secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul and other senior leaders of party addressed the meeting.
Party vice-presidents Yudhvir Sethi, Shakti Parihar, Anuradha Charak, Pawan Khjuria, Sofi Yusuf, Sham Sharma, general secretaries, Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, headquarter Incharge, Priya Sethi, party secretaries and other senior office bearers participated in the meeting.
Tarun Chugh, while addressing the meeting said that the global reputation of India has increased as a result of strong decisive leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He said that now the whole world is looking towards India to have the leadership role in any type of crisis. The day is not far when India will be the first choice destination for the world’s best scientists, doctors, engineers and it will be a better place to live in due to the innovative and philanthropic leadership by India.
Ravinder Raina, in his presidential address, complimented Modi for taking effective measures to combat the menace of COVID -19 pandemic throughout the nation. He said that starting with the effective containment of the infection to the “Atma Nirbharta” and then providing vaccine to all other nations, India under the strong leadership of Narendra Modi is proceeding to become world leader.
Raina also appreciated the dedicated efforts of BJP activists from J&K in serving the masses during COVID lockdown. He complimented the party activists for the great result in DDC elections. He added that this has strengthened the three-tier system of Panchayati Raj. He said that the rise of BJP has coincided with the rise of nationalist voice in the region and that the region is now progressing towards more development and strong borders.
Ashok Kaul provided the outline of various sessions to be conducted in the two-day meeting. He also provided insight on various issues covered in BJP’s National Executive body meeting recently conducted at Delhi.
Chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi presented the draft of political resolution for discussion.
General secretary Vibodh Gupta conducted the proceedings of meeting, while vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal. Office secretary, Tilak Raj Gupta read the minutes of last meeting.
