Residents protest against JDA

JAMMU, July 22: The residents of Kasim Nagar today held a protest demonstration against the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for selling the land under “Shishu Samadian” in the area.
The protestors assembled on the main road and raised slogans against the said move of the JDA demanding to preserve the “samadian’ raised there in the memory of the deceased children who have been buried there.
While talking to media, Vikram, a local resident of the area said that the JDA is trying to sell the land measuring 8 kanals which is under the ‘shishu samadian’ and where several children have been buried and their memorials have been raised.
He further said that adjoining to it a park measuring 50 kanals also exists and the JDA is selling the 8 kanals land under the children graveyard and is also planning something similar for the park also.
He appealed the JDA authorities to desist from any such decision of selling the land and demanded to preserve the ‘shishu samadian” raised there and not to hurt the sentiments of the masses.
Among others present were Altaf, Baldev, Riyaz, Santosh Devi and Asha Rani besides other.
