JAMMU, Oct 24: A meeting of Channi Himmat Residents’ Association was held under the chairmanship of its president, Advocate VK Grover, in which the members expressed anguish over the existing defects in the voters lists published vis-à-vis residents of Channi Himmat Housing Colony.
The meeting alleged that in more than 90% cases, the Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) are defective in one way or the other and the information contained therein is false in respect of either the name, parentage, date of birth or address.
The meeting said that the EPICs, which were issued by the Government have not been delivered as per rules and in contravention of the same have been delivered to few politically interested persons who have further delivered some of the cards only to their voters and destroyed the others. The members also observed that the administration has duly paid costs of photograph to the voters, which have not disbursed to them by those middlemen.
The Association appealed the administration through the Divisional Commissioner as also the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, MLA of the area, Raman Bhalla to take cognizance of this grave issue and order revision of entire voters’ list.
