Residents demand cabling of electric wires to check power thefts

JAMMU, June 28: The residents have demanded cabling of electric wires so as to check power theft in their areas.
The residents of Naseeb Nagar, Sultanpur and Sector 1 of Pamposh Colony have expressed great concern over the rising power thefts in their areas.
“In our areas, cables are not installed due to pressure of some vested interests, who in connivance with PDD staff hook up the electric power lines, resulting into breakdown, fluctuation, erratic power supply and damage to the gadgets”, the residents said, adding that old age persons, children and even women folk are the worst suffers due to the power thefts in their areas.
They have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to redress the power related issue of these areas, so that people will have some sigh of relief in the ongoing hot weather conditions.
They also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to kindly direct the concerned department for early cabling of electric wires, so that power thefts can be thwarted. They also demanded stern action against those involved in power thefts.
