Reservation in promotion issue: NC’s SC Cell holds protest against Govt

JAMMU, May 30: National Conference Schedule Caste (SC) Cell, Jammu province, under the chairmanship of Vijay Lochan today held a protest against the failure of the State Government to protect reservation in promotion for reserved categories and demanded that a legislation be bring in the ongoing Assembly session to make provision of reservation in promotion.
A large number of workers of SC Cell of National Conference today assembled at Exhibition Ground, Jammu and staged a sit-in protest carrying placards in their hands. They raised slogans against the Government for its failure to protect reservation in promotion, which was struck down by High Court in recent past.
The protesters further said that Constitutional amendments 77, 81, 82 and 85 were made applicable throughout the Country but J&K Government failed to implement these amendments. They said as the Assembly session is going on in the State, they demands State Government to bring legislation in the State Assembly to make provision of reservation in promotion to give justice to reserved category employees in the State.
They said if Government fails to bring legislation or get implement 77, 81, 82 and 85 Constitutional amendment in the State, the people belonging to reserved categories will left with no option other than coming on roads against the State Government.
Prominent among others who addressed the protesters were Sham Lal Basson, CL Banal, Kesar Singh, ML Banalia, Simar Dass, Dr Shivgotra, Madan Lal and Prem Nath.
