JAMMU, Aug 3: The members of the Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ) have appealed the Prime Minister and Telecommunication Minister to personally intervene in releasing the long pending 12-month salary of Watch & Ward employees of BSNL Towers in J&K.
The MPEJ members also urged upon the J&K Government to release 12-month rent of the BSNL tower sites immediately and ensure that the monthly charges to the Watch and Ward employees on this count are released on monthly basis and credited to the respective accounts.
“Is this good governance and digital India of Modi Government, where 12-month salary of poor Watch & Ward employees of BSNL Tower and the 12-months rent of the site is pending in J&K UT and there is no one to take cognizance and give justice to these poor Watch & Ward employees,” they regretted.
They further urged the Telecommunication Minister fix rent of BSNL Tower sites as per private companies like Airtel, Reliance Jio, Idea, Vodaphone etc i.e. at the rate of Rs 10,000 per month in Municipal limits and Rs 7000 in rural areas, and also enhance the salary of Watch & Ward employees from Rs 3000 to 5000 per month.
