JAMMU, July 1: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary Manjit Singh today appealed Government to regularize Special Police Officers (SPOs) of Jammu province in Police Department.
“Jammu SPOs have been neglected by the Coalition Government which was formed to give equal share and equal rights to the people of two regions,” said Manjit Singh who was speaking before the party workers in a monthly meeting organized at Vijaypur. Manjit Singh alleged that the Coalition Government has neglected the SPOs of Jammu division and regularized 450 Kashmir based SPOs.
“BJP has failed to take up fight for Jammu. It has compromised the rights of the people, daily wagers, SPOs, contractual lecturers and other people who trusted and voted them to power,” said Manjit Singh.
He said that the SPOs who put their lives on risk to ensure peace in the society are getting nothing except from the Police Department in return of their tireless 24 hour services. “They have no job security, no future, medical facilities, no health insurance or any other facilities which regular policemen get. The Government must think about them and regularize Jammu based SPOs too,” said Manjit Singh.
He questioned silence of BJP and said that they have failed because they are in Government for the sake of power. “BJP should know they have to return to the people in elections and people cannot be befooled. You have to answer for your deeds before the voters,” he said.
Those present in the meeting included Col (Retd) Swaran Singh, Retd CAO Babu Ram, Babble Gupta, Retd Manager Inder Paul, Shamsher Singh Jamwal, Balwant Singh Nagra, Dr Bishan Choudhary, Sohan Singh Kattal, Joginder Lal, Thoru Ram, Gurjit Singh, Sham Lal Bhagat, Mohan Lal Sharma and Joginder Choudhary.
