JAMMU, Nov 1: The current reduced status of J&K to a Union Territory (UT) is painful but has to be reconciled as the circumstances were getting out of hands due to terrorism and separatism sponsored by Pakistan.

This was stated by Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) president, Gulchain Singh Charak while addressing a press conference here today wherein he hoped that after peace and normalcy is regained, J&K will be re-accorded full statehood as indicated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah.
Talking to reporters he pointed out various challenges like corruption and regional discrimination in the newly formed UT of J&K and said that an immediate census followed by delimitation should be a prelude to the Legislative Assembly elections.
He also said that both Jammu and Kashmir Secretariats should function simultaneously in the two existing buildings.
“With present day developments of IT and transportation, annual Darbar move is wasteful and denies close access to governance in both the regions for half the year in J&K,” Charak said adding that allocation of funds, resources and opportunities should be done separately to both the regions under autonomous councils.
“There is deliberate neglect of our heritage sites, the archives and museums. There has been blatant discrimination in share of resources, development, opportunities, jobs and political empowerment,” he further said.
The DSS president also said that government approved project of Sainik Colonies is pending for the last two decades on one pretext or another and it should be cleared now.
He also expressed concern over the instituting of three Toll Plazas within 120 km in Jammu with none in the next 200 km toward Kashmir.
Charak hailed the determination to revert PoJK to India by whatever means.
Prem Sagar Gupta, Brig M.S Jamwal, Col. Dr Virendra K. Sahi, VrC, Amanat Ali Shah and others were also present in the press conference.
