Red Cross team visits Talwara migrants camp

Reasi, Aug 11: Following the preliminary report by Red Cross Interns Kunika and Aushotosh Vashishta after survey at Talwara migrants camp here, a team of Red Cross led by M.S Rather, General Secretary Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) J&K State Branch accompanied by Dinesh Gupta, Secretary IRCS Jammu Region and volunteers visited the camp.
The visiting team interacted with children, women, youth and elderly persons in the camp who highlighted the problems like cracks developed in their shelters, no proper school and dispensary facilities available to them.
The visiting team further noticed that many children in the camp were having one or the other medical problems for which a proper medical camp is urgently needed.
The team informed the camp inmates that soon a medical camp with doctors of different specialities will be organised there with the help of district administration and based on the final survey report of their Interns.
The Red Cross team further informed the camp inmates that other suitable welfare steps in consultation with the local administration will also be initiated soon.
The relief items distributed among the camp inmates included taurplines, blankets, plastic sheets, buckets and assorted clothes.
