JAMMU, Aug 11: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) today organized Digidhan Mission-an awareness camp for digital payments and online banking at Block Phallain near here.
Financial Inclusion & Insurance Department of JKGB with the collaboration of Regional Office Jammu and J&K Bank under the chairmanship of Janak Raj Angural organized the camp where BDO Phallain Mandal, Arun Kumar Khajuria was the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion Khajuria said that DigiDhan Mission will be followed by camps at State level and at bank branch levels.
This camp was primarily aimed at rural populace to promote digital payments.
On this occasion Regional Manager JKGB Jammu, R.K Narang, said the event witnessed participation from banks and other line departments. The participants were explained about various options available for digital payments. During the daylong event, service was extended to rural people for opening bank accounts, to enrol them into Aadhaar and to enrol them under PMSBY & PMJJBY insurance schemes.
Vipan Gupta, Sr Manager Financial Inclusion & Insurance Department informed that it is a national programme and JKGB is supposed to make each village and each house hold aware about government schemes.
He informed that the Bank has achieved 1 lakh enrolments under the three social security schemes-APY, PMSBY and PMJJBY.
He further said that JKGB has maintained 100 percent rate of death claim settlement and has got top position in Phase-1 of Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan and also in Phase 2 of Extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan.
About 500 people including students and women attended the camp.
Branch Head Phallain, Viney Mehra along with Branch Head J&K Bank Parladhpur, Soul Kumar Joshi said: “We are motivating people to understand and use cashless transactions. People are urged upon to act as an agent of change in the society by making others aware about the use of digital channels for making day to day purchases.”
