JAMMU, Mar 13: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) held the meeting of its executive members here, today under the chairmanship of its president Adv. Ravinder Raina to discuss the recommendation of Law Commission.
The members expressed confidence over the Law Commission recommendation for the blanket ban on alienation of property of internally displaced persons. The ASKPC from day one of migration were fighting for safeguarding of the immovable properties including temples and shrines land and with great efforts the Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Immovable Property Act 1997 was passed and despite directives from higher ups in Government the revenue officials failed to comply the same.
The orders of the Divisional Commissioner in this regard are not being carried by Revenue officers in various parts of the Valley and they were openly violating the Distress Sale Act with the result maximum land of exiled Pandits has been encroached upon or purchased under distress sale.
The ASKPC said the recommendation of the Commission is an eye opener for the administration and needs immediate attention to curb this menace.
Dr. T.K.Bhat general secretary, ASKPC further reiterated that number of times the organization has approached to Government of India to declare KPs as internally displaced persons instead of migrants as they have not left our homes and hearths as per their choice ,rather were hounded out from their home land by Pan Islamic fundamentalists who made them internally displaced.
Those present in the meeting were R.K.Wangnoo, C.L. Bhat, Ravi Raina, O.N.Koul, R.L. Koul Veena Gurtoo, Bharat Bushan Gosain, Ashok Dhar, Kuldeep Raina P.L.Shangroo etc.
