JAMMU : Among all the six districts three including mountainous Reasi, Udhampur and bordering Kathua belts are leading in poll percentage till 1100 hrs for the Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha Seat.
Till 1100 hrs, Reasi recorded highest 30.12 percentage polling followed by Udhampur with 29.87 and Kathua with 29.35 per cent, an election officer here said. He said in Ramban and Kishtwar the polling percentage was recorded as 27.68 per cent and 27.35 per cent respectively while hometown of Union Minister and Congress candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad, Doda belt recorded the least 22.98 per cent.
Earlier, in the morning till 0900 hrs Reasi district topped with 14.56 polling percentage. Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been made across all the districts and in the remote belts of the Constituency for peaceful conduct of the elections. So far no incident of any violence has been reported and polling process is going on peacefully, said an official. As many as 14,61,373 electorates are eligible to exercise their franchise for Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary Constituency to decide the fate of 13 candidates. Total 14,61,373 voters will cast their vote in the second phase, an official added and said total number of voters included 7,77,599 males, 6,77,850 females, others one and 5,923 service voters.
The official said 2,051 polling stations have been established in all the districts of the Constituency adding, out of total number of polling stations, 108 have been identified as critical with maximum in Kathua district followed by 32 in Doda district.
In total 22,516 number of polling personnel have been deployed at various polling stations for the smooth conduct of the polling process,” he said adding that adequate security arrangements have also been made for the process. As many as 13 candidates are in fray for Udhampur-Doda Constituency including heavy weight Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is contesting against BJP candidate Jitendra Singh, PDP’s Arshad Malik, BSP’s Dharampal Balgotra and JKNPP’s Bhim Singh.
