JAMMU, Aug 11: Various branches of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, J&K held strong protests against dismantling of historic temple of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Mahajaraj at Tugalkabad in Delhi on Saturday.
Carrying banners with slogans written against Delhi Government and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on them, the devotees of Shri Guru Ravi Dass held demonstration and demanded the Government of India to intervene into the matter and restore land to Guru Ravi Dass Sabha to build temple.
Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Basson (general secretary of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Bahu Fort, Jammu and president of All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch) strongly condemned unholy act of Delhi Government, DDA and Government of India, stating that they have hurt the sentiments of crores of people belonging to Ravi Dass community living not only in India but also in other countries.
Basson said that the Ravi Dass Temple at Tugalkabad was inaugurated by Jagjivan Ram, former Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of India on March 3, 1959 and revenue record of the temple land is lying with Shri Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti Samaroh Samiti, Tugalkabad, Delhi.
He said to register their protest against DDA’s act of dismantling the temple, All India Ravidasia Dharam Sangathan under the presidentship of Sant Sukhdev Ji Maharaj and other national level organizations have decided to hold a grand rally at Jantar-Mantar in Delhi on August 21. He appealed all branches of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, J&K and the sangat to join the rally in large numbers.
Prominent among those who joined the protest today were CL Bansal (chairman, Ravi Dass S S Trust, Sikanderpur, Jammu), D D Shivgotra (general secretary, Guru Ravi Dass S S Trust, Jammu), ML Banalia (general secretary, Guru Ravi Dass Satsang Society, J&K), Prof Gl Thapa (president, All J&K Retired SC/ST Employees Forum), Des Raj (president, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Jaswan) and Puran Chand Atri (president, Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Kabir Colony, Jammu).
