JAMMU, June 28: Police today unearthed a racked involved in misappropriation of Government ration after repacking the same on the name of other brand and seized over 20,000 kilograms of CAPD flour and rice from a mill at Sari-Rakhwala in Pouni-chack area, falling under the jurisdiction of Domana police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police party from Domana police station conducted a raid in Balbir Singh Flour Mill at Sari-Rakhwala in Pouni-chack area and found large quanity of Government ration, which the employees of the mill were re-packing in new bags under the brand of “Gokul Chakki Atta”.
Police seized 335 bags of flour weighing 50 kg each, 60 bags of rice weighing 10 kg each, 43 empty bags, one sewing machine, two tata mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK02T-2672 and JK02AL 4137. Both the vehicles were being used for transportation of the ration to market. When calculated, the Government ration seized was over 20,000 kilograms.
Six persons were arrested namely Raghubir Singh, son of Baldev Singh, a resident of Pouni Chack, Sarpanch of Village patrore, his brother Sanjeev Singh, Subash Chander, son of Kartar Chand, Sari Rakhwala, Pouni Chack, Om Parkash, son of Ram Lal of Patrore, Moti Lal, son of Bua Ditta of Jourian, tehsil Akhnoor and Tarsem Kumar, son of Bua Ditta of Nai Basti.
The modus operandi of the racket was that they store the Government ration in the mill and further sell it into the retail market after repacking the same in new bags under the brand of “Gokul Chakki Atta”.
There is possible involvement of CAPD officials because such a big scam can not run without convince of officials. However, investigation has been taken up to trace out the officials involved in the scam, which has caused loss to Government exchequer worth lakhs.
A case under FIR 243/14 under Section 409, 407, 109 of RPC and 3/7 Essential Commodity Act (ECA) has been registered at Domana police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the seventh accused namely Balbir Singh, who also happens to be brother of the accused Sarpanch.
Police team headed by SHO Domana police station  Jai Pal Sharma and SDPO Domana Sanjay Parihar made the arrests under the supervision of SP Rural ML Kaith and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
