Rasana residents end fast unto death following meeting with Dr Jitendra

KATHUA, May 27: Following meeting between Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Madhu, daughter of Sanji Ram, an alleged accused in the rape and murder of 8-year-old tribal girl, the residents of Rasana particularly women and family members of arrested alleged accused, ended their fast unto death, here today.
The fast unto death was called off in presence of President Hindu Ekta Manch Advocate Vijay Sharma, Ex-Sarpanchs Kant Kumar, Bhagmal and Vijay Tagotra. A large number of people were also present on the occasion.
While speaking, Advocate Vijay Sharma said that the proceedings of the case is starting on day to day basis in the court at Pathankote on May 31, so they have decided to call off this ongoing fast-unto-death, which was started on March 31 this year.
“As we are firm on our demand of CBI enquiry into the case so that truth prevails, we will protest on daily basis”, he added.
He informed that as the temperature is rising gradually day by day and this can prove health hazard for the protestors especially the women folk, so the decision to call off the strike has been taken.
“We are demanding CBI enquiry for the justice to the 8-year-old tribal girl and strict punishment to those, behind this heinous crime”, he said and flayed the Government for not ordering CBI probe in this case.
It is pertinent to mention here that on Saturday, Madhu, daughter of Sanji Ram met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in Hiranagar and had a close-door meeting in Sub District Magistrate Office Hiranagar.
Dr Jitendra Singh advised Madhu, the daughter of Sanjhi Ram to end the ongoing fast unto death at Kootah More, Hiranagar.
