NEW YORK, Dec 18: Rapper Bobby Shmurda has been arrested in an investigation into a series of gang-related shootings and drug trafficking after leaving a recording studio near Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan.
The 20-year-old rapper was taken into custody along with 14 members of Bobby’s group, GS9, on Wednesday in an NYPD investigation, reported New York Daily News.
Law enforcement sources said that Bobby was stopped while he was in a car outside the studio.
Police confiscated a total of 16 weapons during the raid. Police were hunting two more people including a parole violator. Record producer Sha Money XL and aspiring hip hop artist Rowdy Rebel were reportedly among those who were arrested.
Spokeswoman for the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor Kati Cornell said that the indictment against Bobby would be unsealed in Manhattan Supreme Court after their arraignments on Thursday.
This is not the first time Bobby has been arrested. Back in June, he was busted on a felony gun charge. The rapper then got arrested again in October for smoking a joint on a Brooklyn street. (PTI)
