JAMMU, July 12: Former Minister and NCP State president, Thakur Randhir Singh has demanded immediate stern action against the Police officers involved in major scam in the procurement of thousands of bullet proof vests, headgears and bullet proofing of Gypsies
In a statement, Mr Singh said the scam assumes more implication as it was related to precious lives of our Police personnel who are giving their today for our tomorrow.  “J&K police in close coordination with the security forces is boldly fighting the challenge of terrorism in J&K and playing with lives of the forces is most heinous crime, which must be punished with severity,” he said and called upon the Governor N N Vohra to immediately order punitive action against the Police officials who are responsible for this big scam to set an example that there is zero tolerance in respect of security matters of the nation.
“The nation demands severe punishment against the police officials who have purchased the fake bullet proofs and are responsible for the martyrdom of our brave jawans while fighting against the terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir,” he reiterated.
Quoting on another incidence of prevalent corruption, Thakur Randhir Singh pointed out that J&K State Vigilance Organization (SVO) was totally defunct and had not been taking any corruption cases to the logical conclusion. Mr Singh wondered how and why the FIRs registered by SVO since 2015 are still under investigation which have been registered  against the Government  servants  for offences like illegal transfers, misuse of official position, illegal transfer of land, demand and acceptance of bribe , misappropriation assets.
Mr Singh  urged the Governor to reconstitute the State Vigilance organization with dedicated, upright and men of integrity. “Why the State is hesitating in appointing Lokpal and Lokayukta here  to root out corruption and investigate ill gotten money amassed  by the ex Chief Ministers, Legislators,  bureaucrats and ex bureaucrats?” he  asked and emphasized the Central Govt as well as the Governor’s administration to tackle the most serious problem of corruption in the State.
