JAMMU, Mar 13: State NCP has appealed the State and Central Government to immediately send Central and State teams to all the three regions of J&K Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to access the colossal loss to the human beings, crops and houses by the avalanche, unprecedented snow and hailstorm and provide immediate relief.
In a statement, NCP State president and former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh said that he has received many shocking messages over the deaths of so many people including Army.
“People are facing the worst times and problems of ration, water, electricity, roads and communication because of the unprecedented natural calamity,” he said adding that in Jammu division, there was a great loss to the wheat and vegetable crops due to hailstorm and the farmers were also complaining that the defective seed was supplied to them.
Mr Singh regretted that the vast land of farmers belonging to 14 villages has been taken over by the Agriculture Department at Chinore to produce the seeds which have badly failed to produce better quality of crop.
The NCP leader appealed to the State and Central Government to approach to the Election Commission of India if they face difficulties in the distribution of immediate relief because of Model Code of Conduct.
Relief to the victims should be treated under Natural Calamity rules which provide special relief to the dead, injured and other damages to the infrastructures and land belonging to the farmers.
