Randhawa asks people to avail benefits of amnesty scheme

JAMMU, Sept 10: Former Legislator and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vikram Randhawa today asked the people of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to avail the benefits of amnesty scheme for domestic power consumers announced by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
He said the scheme will provide benefits to those consumers who could not avail the same during last time due COVID Pandemic. He complimented Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Advisor to LG, R R Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta and Principal Secretary to LG, Niteshwar Kumar for taking the decision in the interest of the people of J&K.
He added that the decision will benefit the people at large, who were finding it difficult to pay their power bills.
Randhawa said this to party workers while touring different areas of Jammu South.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Administrative Council (AC) which met here under the chairmanship of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, approved the amnesty scheme for domestic power consumers in the UT two days back.
“The decision will benefit around 6 lakh domestic consumers as an amount of Rs 937.34 crores accumulated as surcharge or interest, on account of non-payment of timely dues has been waved off”, Randhawa said, adding that he had taken up the matter with the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and the outcome is that the Lt Governor has approved the amnesty scheme for domestic power consumers in the UT.
