JAMMU May 26: Describing Mufti -led PDP-BJP Government as a non-starter, Provincial president of National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said that except for vigorously pursuing anti-youth, anti people and anti-employee policies, the governance has been a distant dream during the past three months in the State.
Talking to media-persons on the occasion of joining of National Conference by former BSP MLA from Kathua, Sagar Chand at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here today, Mr Rana alleged that there was no governance at all in the State. He alleged that the impact of PDP-BJP Government was zero on ground.
“Where is the Government?”, Mr Rana retorted back to a newsman when he asked about performance of the Coalition Government in the State.
The NC leader said not only in the urban areas, even in the rural areas also the impact of the Government is zero with infrastructural development and utility services remaining in shambles. “Go beyond city peripheries, the woes of people will be reflective of the presence of Government”, he said adding that the condition in the cities remains worse. He regretted over the flood sufferers having been left in lurch by not paying them any compensation. The farmers too, have been neglected whose crops got totally damaged. Besides this, damaged roads, water pumping stations and hand pumps in floods and rains have remained unattended, he added.
On setting up of AIIMS in Jammu and the Bandh call given by the Bar Association Jammu led Coordination Committee for tomorrow, Mr Rana said the stand of National Conference is clear on this issue. “While we hail the decision of the Government in establishing AIIMS in Kashmir, we demand similar facility for Jammu and Ladakh”.
Rana termed the Jammu bandh on May 27 as non-political affair and said that NC has no role to play.
While taking a dig at BJP on abrogation of Article 370, Rana said the BJP leaders continued to change their stand on this issue and befool the people. They also know it well that Art 370 can not be revoked as it is bridge between India and the State of Jammu and Kashmir and guarantee to the people here but still they are harping on it for public consumption. PDP also needs to clear its stand on this sensitive issue, Rana maintained.
When asked about the recent comment of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar about ‘terrorists to be neutralized by terrorists’, Mr Rana remarked that on the national security issues, less said the better. He, however, asked the PDP to clarify on the Defence Minister’s statement as it was in conflict with its much hyped so-called slogan of “Goli se Nahi, Bat Banegi Boli Se”. He said Mr Parrikar is vouching bullet for bullet, which is against the spirit of democracy.
Rana welcomed Sagar Chand in NC fold and said his joining will further strengthen the party in Kathua district.
Mr Sagar while speaking on the occasion reaffirmed his commitment to the policies and programmes of National Conference. He said that he left BSP because he was denied party ticket during last Assembly election after a top BSP leader demanded Rs 50 lakh for it. He said that they have fixed a rate of Rs 50 lakh for Assembly ticket and Rs 2 crore for Lok Sabha. The poor candidates who believe in public service can not offer such amount. The party gave mandate to other candidate who was defeated twice. Over this attitude of BSP leadership, he decided to quit the party. He said that such people in BSP have caused massive damage to the party in J&K.
Senior leaders Mushtaq Bukhari, Rattan Lal Gupta, Rachpal Singh, Babu Rampal, Brij Mohan Sharma, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Jugal Mahajan, Pradeep Bali, Vijay Kumar Lochan and Abdul Gani Teli were also present.
