Rana commends Army for checking infiltration

POONCH, July 28: Highlig-hting the huge sacrifices made by people living along the Line of Control (LoC) in safeguarding the border in Pir Panjal region, Javed Ahmed Rana, Member Legislative Assembly Mendhar today asked the State and Centre Governments to take immediate steps for comprehensive development of these areas inhabited by most patriotic citizens of the nation.
The MLA during his day-long tour to forward villages on LoC in Balakote sector viz, Dharati, Bhroti, Datote, Sohala, Panjani, Tarkundi among others, interacted with villagers and took stock of the ongoing development works and directed the  concerned authorities to redress the developmental and other issues of border residents. Mr. Rana had a detail review of the functioning of R&B, PHE, PDD and PMGSY departments in these areas.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mendhar, Thakur Sher Singh, XEn PHE, Qayoom Choudhary, XEn PDD, Nisar Choudhary, AEE R&B, Imtiaz Mir besides several other officers of Sub-Divisional administration and Army accompanied the MLA.
Saying that sustained peace is an important prerequisite for development, Lawmaker commended the Army for ensuring peace and order by effectively checking infiltration along the LoC in Mendhar. He, however expressed dismay at the  collective failure in addressing huge development gaps in villages along the LoC. Responding to their grievances, he assured villagers that construction of pukka bunkers, establishing of health centres, schools and provision of other civic amenities will be vigorously pursued by him.
The MLA also asked the Army to facilitate movement of villagers at border fencing especially in emergent situations.
