CM, Dr Jitendra, BJP condole demise

JAMMU, July 28: Rekha Gupta, wife of former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta breathed her last today after a prolonged illness.
She was 71. Rekha Gupta is survived by her husband Prof Gupta, two sons Anil Gupta and Dr Sunil Gupta and daughter Meenakshi Gupta. Her younger son Sunil is settled in UK.
Her cremation will take place at Jogi Gate Cremation Ground at 3pm tomorrow.
The funeral procession will start from Prof Gupta’s Gandhi Nagar residence in the afternoon towards Jogi Gate Cremation Ground. Mrs Gupta was a social activist and was associated with Gevanand Ashram Ved Mandir, Jammu.
People from all walks of life mourned her demise and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Mrs Gupta. In her condolence message, she expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for peace of departed soul.
Union Minster of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh has also expressed his profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Mrs Gupta. He spoke to Prof Gupta on phone from New Delhi soon after hearing the news of Mrs Gupta’s demise and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family. He termed Mrs Gupta a noble lady and a good social activist.
The State unit of BJP has also condoled the sad demise of Rekha Gupta. The party has termed the demise as a loss not only to the family but also to the party which had witnessed support from her to his husband for decades together.
BJP State president & MLA Sat Sharma, while expressing party’s condolences to the bereaved family, said that although only Prof Chaman Lal Gupta had been  active in politics and  served the BJP for more than fifty long years, his wife Rekha Gupta too deserved the appreciation as she not only took care of the family but was always seen as extending support to her husband in party activities.
Sat Sharma said that the irreparable loss cannot be fulfilled and the party stands with the family in this hour of grief and sorrow.
Meanwhile, BJP National vice-president & J&K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna, National secretary Farooq Khan, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, BJP Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs also condoled the sad demise of Rekha Gupta.
