Rajouri: BDO Plangher Suspended Over Poor Progress In Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision

RAJOURI, Apr 28: District Panchayat Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Rajouri Abhishek Sharma has placed Block Development Officer (BDO) Plangher, Mohtshim Hanief, under suspension with immediate effect over poor progress in the ongoing Panchayat Electoral Roll Revision-2026.
Officials said the officer, who was also serving as Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, had been repeatedly warned regarding slow progress in the revision work and was earlier informed through official communications dated Apr 10 and Apr 17.
They said during special camps held on Apr 25 and Apr 26, all concerned officers were directed to achieve the benchmark of 4 percent addition in the electoral roll within the stipulated time.
However, the officer allegedly failed to discharge duties properly, resulting in delayed and incomplete revision of rolls, non-adherence to prescribed guidelines and timelines, and lack of supervision over field staff.
Officials said the lapses affected the integrity and reliability of the revision process.
Accordingly, the officer was placed under suspension pending further inquiry into the matter, they said.
During suspension, the officer has been attached to the office of Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Rajouri and has been directed not to leave headquarters without prior permission.
