JAMMU, Sept 17: Cancelled twice, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has re-scheduled his visit to Samba and Leh from September 21.
Official sources said if all goes well, Singh will visit Ghagwal in Samba district to inaugurate newly constructed campus of Into-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on September 21. He will be accompanied by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh.
Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit forward posts manned by the ITBP in Leh on September 21 and stay there till September 23. He will return to New Delhi in the afternoon of September 23.
The Union Home Minister will review situation on the Sino-Indian borders. Recently, trouble had erupted in Burtse area of Leh, where Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China had come in eyeball-to-eyeball situation after the Indian troops dismantled a watch tower constructed by the PLA about 500 meters inside the Indian territory. The issue was resolved in two flag meetings between Indian Army and PLA officials on Tuesday.
The Union Home Minister’s schedule to Samba and Leh had been cancelled twice earlier after finalization.
