Rajnath reviews Border Area Projects

NEW DELHI, Aug 7: After reviewing the Border Area Projects today, Home Minister Rajnath Singh directed officials that the ongoing projects should be completed on priority and in a time-bound manner.

“The technological solutions should be put in place where physical barriers are not possible. This will involve networking of equipments like High Resolution Cameras, Radars, Unattended Ground Sensors, Optical Fibres, Infra Red Sensors, Aerostats and Hand-held Thermal Imagers,” said Mr Singh after meeting with officials associated with the Home Ministry. Further, the minister expressed his concern about the difficulties being experienced by the residents of Border Areas. He mentioned that necessary assistance should be extended to them in the field of education, health and other basic necessities.

Along with him, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, and Officer on Special Duty to Home ministry Rajiv Gauba, Heads of Border Guarding Forces and Senior officers from different organisations were present in the meeting.

The status of Border Roads, flood lights, Border Outposts (BOPs) and Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) along the International Borders were also reviewed in the meeting.  (UNI)
