Rajendra spends hours with martyrs families, discusses their problems

Srinagar, Oct 21: On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day Parade, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar along with the team of senior police officers, spent hours together with the families of martyrs and heard their problems. He said that the Organization is proud of its martyrs and feels its responsibility to assist their families.
Addressing the families, Mr. Rajendra assured them that their problems would be looked into and all genuine demands fulfilled. He also assured them that matters related to the welfare of the families would be settled on priority. On spot directions were conveyed to the supervisory officers to monitor the process of various issues of martyr’s families and provide them easy access to their offices.
The DGP said that the martyrs of JKP have made supreme sacrifices at the prime of their youth for a noble cause safeguarding integrity of the state. He said that due to their sacrifices we have succeeded to bring peace and ensure safety of the people. He said that the Day is observed all over the country in remembrance of the martyrs, who were martyred during enemy’s attack in the year 1959 in Ladakh, while protecting their motherland.
Mr. Rajendra disclosed that police organization is providing every assistance to the families of martyrs as it is our prime duty to take care of these families being members of police parivar. He said that various welfare schemes have been launched, providing succor to the next of kins (NOKs) of our brave martyrs, who sacrificed their present for our safe future. The Department has been focusing to promote talent among the wards of martyrs and is providing free education to them in police public schools established at twin capital cities and various district headquarters.
The DGP said that during the current year Rs. 10.46 crore were distributed among the families of martyrs and other deceased personnel as special relief, besides Rs. 1.22 crore as ex-gratia relief. He said that Rs. 22 lakh were provided as scholarship to the martyr’s wards to encourage their schooling.
Mr. Rajendra said that the welfare schemes are being reviewed by the Central Welfare Committee from time to time to enhance the benefits for the families. He said that various new welfare schemes have been introduced including free coaching for the wards of martyrs, appearing in competitive examinations. All these schemes are supported by contributory fund of every member of the police parivar, he added
The DGP asked the officers to ensure regular interactions at district level with the martyr’s families to sought feed backs from them about their problems. He said that Nodal Officers should be made accountable for the welfare of families.
