Rajendra highlights role of parents in promoting quality education

SRINAGAR, July 29: Highlighting the contribution of parents in promoting quality education among their wards, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar has said that result oriented education is gaining much importance to lead the society towards a brighter end. He said that quality education also helps to inculcate good values among the children.
Mr Rajendra was speaking while sanctioning scholarship of Rs.8.30 lakh for 177 police wards at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. He said that the innovative schemes introduced by the Organisation are aimed at promoting education among police children, which are bringing good dividends as the students are excelling in different academic and competitive examinations. Scholarships boost morale of police wards and instil a spirit of competition among them, which are granted in different categories for the meritorious children, besides, assistance to the wards of deceased personnel.
Mr Rajendra said that scholarships are granted out of Central Police Welfare Fund for the meritorious wards studying in class 10th and 12th. Accordingly special rewards are granted to the children qualifying State and National Level Competitive Examinations, and securing distinction in degree courses. He disclosed that the wards exhibiting talent at National level in sports arena are also encouraged with the aim to inculcate a sense of sportsmanship among them.
DGP said that a contributory Central Police Education Fund has also been established to provide succour to the school going children of deceased cops. Under this scheme the wards are granted scholarship for every academic year from primary level up to post graduation and other technical courses. He said that Police Public Schools are also providing free education to the wards of police martyrs, who are excelling in different examination, bringing laurels to the organisation.
