Rajendra appeals people for cooperation

JAMMU, Dec 28: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has appealed the people of the State to celebrate the new year functions in a secure manner and desist from illegal activities.
Mr. Rajendra was chairing a meeting of senior police officers at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today to discuss  various measures to be taken during the new year celebrations in the State.
During the meeting various issues were discussed threadbare to make the celebrations smooth and secure. It was decided that additional deployment would be made at different places, where such celebrations are held.
The DGP asked the Thana and Traffic Police to deploy their squads at different places, especially in the cities and big towns to curb traffic violations such as drunken driving which involves  safety of the people. He stressed for strict action under law against the persons driving under the influence of liquor. He said that bikers without crash helmets, rash driving and wrong parking should be curbed strictly and the errant drivers should be booked under law.
Mr. Rajendra said that law and order during the celebrations would be ensured and all security measures would be adopted to make the places of celebration secure. He appealed the people to take all preventive measures for their safety during the celebrations.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGP (Jammu Zone), Danish Rana, IGP Security, Jagjit Kumar and IGP Traffic, Vjiplav Kumar, DIG, Jammu, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand and other police officers.
