Reservation for KPs in Haryana

CHANDIGARH, Dec 28:
Haryana Government today announced that Kashmiri migrants would be given reservation and various other relaxations in admission to the institutes of higher education in the State.
State Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said that the concessions include relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10 per cent (subject to minimum eligibility requirement) and increase in course-wise intake capacity up to 5 per cent.
“Also, it includes reservation of at least one seat in merit quota in technical and professional institutions and waiving of domicile requirement,” he said, according to an official release.
Sharma further said that these facilities would be extended to the wards of Kashmiri migrants registered with other than Jammu and Kashmir as well as Delhi.
The Government has issued necessary instructions to all universities and colleges of the State in this regard, the Minister added. (PTI)
