Radhey Sham inaugurates Awareness camp-cum-Kissan Mela

KATHUA, Feb 18: Vice Chairman (MoS) J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, Radhey Sham Sharma today called on the farmers to opt new and innovative technologies for boosting their agriculture produce besides raising their living standards.
The VC was addressing the farmers after inaugurating one-day Awareness camp-cum-Kissan Mela held at Kot Punu (Hiranagar) in the district.
The Mela was organized by J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans in collaboration with Department of Agriculture Kathua.
Earlier, Sharma went around various stalls installed by Agriculture, Floriculture, Horticulture, Apiculture, Sericulture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua, Sheep Husbandry and Jammu Central Cooperative Bank demonstrating implements, tools, modern machinery equipments, pesticides of various brands and their usage.
Interacting with the farmers and officers, the VC said that such Melas will greatly help implementation of modern technologies at the gross root level.
Highlighting Government’s steps to ensure welfare of the farmers’ community, Sharma said that Government is planning to raise the Kissan Credit Card limit from 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh. Besides, the Government has kept Rs. 50 lakh under Krishi Darshan initiative to provide an opportunity to the farmers of the state learn about modern farming practices for better results.
During the Mela, local farmers apprised the Vice Chairman about their problems including proper implementation of exemption of toll on export of agriculture produce, shortage of pesticides and medicines, animal husbandry centre, provision of loan to construct grain storage sheds besides enhancement of crop compensation was also highlighted.
The Vice Chairman assured that demands and issues projected by the farmers will be redressed on priority.
