JAMMU, Aug 6: State Advisory Kissan Board in collaboration with Department of Agriculture today organised one day Kissan Mela-cum-Exhibition at Purmendal in Samba district in which 6000 farmers from different corners of the district participated and highlighted the benefits among the farmers being implemented under Agriculture sector.
The one day Kissan Mela-cum-Exhibition was inaugurated by Vice Chairman State Advisory Kissan Board (Minister of State) Radhay Sham Sharma.
District Development Commissioner Samba Mubarak Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner Vivek Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer Kulbushan Singh Sambyal, Cultural Officer Information Department Raman Joshi, Junior Agriculture Extension Officer, Sandeep Dogra besides other senior officers and Sarpanchs, Panchs and farmers in large numbers were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Radhay Sham Sharma called upon the farmers to take the maximum benefit of the incentives, schemes and the new technological interventions under ATMA to raise their productivity of crops and to reduce the cost of cultivation to make the agriculture sustainable and viable.
Mr. Sharma stressed upon mechanization and diversification in farming to make farming a profitable business. He said that the Diesel Ploughs have been introduced for the first time in hilly areas of the State which is showing good results.
Earlier, a colourful programme was presented by Jeevan Sharma, Vijay Anand, Zulikha Farid, Sunil Sharma, Surjit Singh Sumbaria, Kamal Kumar, Amit Kumar, Jony which enthralled the present audience with musical items.
