Quran-e-Khwani held on Sheikh Nazir’s Chehlam

JAMMU, Apr 4: Glowing tributes were paid today to National Conference leader and patron Sheikh Nazir Ahmed on Chehlam, the 40th day ceremony after his demise, with senior leaders recalling his great contribution towards political empowerment and overall upliftment of the people in the State.
At a specially held function at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here this morning, senior leaders including legislators, former ministers, ex-legislators and the party functionaries pledged to carry forward the mission of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, which was nurtured by Sheikh Nazir with a sense of commitment.
Leading those paying homage to the late leader, the additional general secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal described Sheikh Nazir as a man of principle and commitment, who strived hard all his life to ameliorate the lot of poor and down trodden.
On the occasion, Quaran-e-Khwani was held by children for eternal peace to the departed soul.
State vice presidents, Rattan Lal Gupta, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Bukhari and Kashmira Singh besides Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Babu Rampal, Brij Mohan Sharma, Qazi Jalal-ud-Din, Bushan Lal Bhat, Bimla Luthra, Dr Chaman Lal, Pradeep Bali, Jugal Mahajan, GH Malik, Sajjad Shaheen, Diljeet Sharma and may others were present.
Meanwhile, interacting with a deputation from Kishtwar, which called on him at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here this morning, Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal stressed the need for providing immediate preliminary relief to those who have suffered due to recent floods and landslides in the wake of incessant rains during the past few days.
He sought immediate airlifting of stranded passengers in Madwah-Wadwan area of the Kishtwar district.
