Punjab mafia threatening JK Mining Team

Should wanton loot of our mining reserves in Ravi belt not stop and if some restrictions on the ones from the UT resulted in some positive changes, why should illegal mining continue unabated at the hands from a well organised mafia from adjoining Punjab areas? Newly constructed bridge at a cost of Rs.160 crore over the River Ravi in Kathua district is increasingly threatened due to such illegal mining activities and the people of the area feel jittery and are indignantly worried over imminent threat to the bridge as well as the flora and fauna of the area.
It is astonishing that the team from the J&K Mining Department which visited the area should be threatened and misbehaved with by the mafia from adjoining Punjab areas to an extent that the team had to seek the help of the Police. The mafia cannot gather this much of courage to assault public officials on their duty schedule to inspect the mining site unless some political patronage was not by its side and the same is ascertained as well. We urge the authorities to ruthlessly deal with the situation of this wanton loot and apprehend the culprits, recovering from them the loss caused by extracting mineral deposits from the identified basin of River Ravi and arrange closure of crushers etc running with the raw material provided from out of this mineral loot.
