Srinagar, Mar 18: Established several decades ago, the Bus Stand in South Kashmir’s Pulwama Township is in poor condition and is craving for official attention.
The drivers of passenger cabs said that the bus stand lacks space for vehicles which are increasing with each passing day. “There is no sufficient space available in the bus stand for growing number of vehicles. Though there was no space constraint few years ago as vehicles were also not in large numbers,” said a driver.
The drivers said that the road condition of bus stand is also poor and it has developed potholes. “You can yourself see the large potholes. The problem doubles in the times of rainfall and snow. These potholes get filled with mud and water and make difficult for drivers as well as commuters to ply and commute,” said the drivers.
The drivers while threatening indefinite strike from next month urged the concerned authorities to repair and beautify the bus stand. “If authorities didn’t wake up from deep slumber and start work on the bus stand then will go for an indefinite strike and suspend all transport activities,” they added.
