Public protest as school remains locked for 15 days

MENDHAR, Aug 14: Irate villagers along with their children today came out on the Jammu-Poonch highway at Bhata Durian near BG and blocked road for over two hours after a Government School remained locked for about two weeks and teachers went missing.
The villagers from Bhata Durian in Mendhar along with their children, led by Panchayat members came out on  busy Jammu-Poonch highway and raised barricades at around 8 am today. The children and villagers sat on dharna on the road and started protest against Dy Chief Minister, Director School Education and CEO Poonch. They alleged that school with strength of over 60 children has remained locked for the last more than two weeks and despite the posting of three teachers, not even single one was seen since long. The future of their children  has been  pushed towards darkness by the system. All the teachers have gone missing. They said that matter was brought to the notice of ZEO concerned but nobody listens.
With the protest  and road blockade, a large number of vehicles remained stranded on the busy road for over two and half hours. The villagers even did not allow Army vehicles to move. The passengers had to face tough time on the highway. SDM  Mendhar Ramesh Kumar came to know about the matter. The SHO Gursai also reached the spot but people refuse to buzz. Dy CEO, Tehsildar  and DEPO were  deputed   by SDM to the spot.
The SDM placed all the three teachers under suspension and asked DyCEO to post other teachers there and ensure that national flag is hoisted there at the school on August 15 in presence of staff and children. The villagers then on the assurance of DEPO and CEO suspended their agitation at around 10.30 am and allowed movement of vehicles.
Three teachers placed under suspension are- Gulfroz Ahmed, Saira Bi and Iram Andleeb. Ther salary has also been stopped by the Administration.
