PSN organizes musical night

JAMMU, May 31: Prem Sangeet Niketan (PSN) an organization for promotion of traditional music held a musical night to pay tributes to its founder and music Maestro of the State late J N Shivpuri here at IIIM today.
The music and art lovers drawn from different parts of Jammu attended the function which was held in connection with observance of the annual day of the organization.
Director DD Jammu, Miss Anjali Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Arvinder Aman, Deputy Director Cultural Academy, R K Raina, president ASKPC, Ratinder Koul, ex DIG were guests of honour. The function was also attended by Prof A N Dhar ex president of the Niketan and Ramesh Hangloo, Director Sharda Radio.
The budding singers and students of institute as well as renowned singers of the State participated in the musical night and mesmerized the audience with their melodious songs.
In his welcome address president of the PSN, Pran Nath Pandita highlighted the objective of the organization. He said the main objective of organizing such programmes is to give the children who are learning music from this prestigious music academy of the State an exposure besides performance appraisal to people about the achievements and short comings of the Niketan.
He said the Niketan owns a full fledged music academy at Jammu where the students from different parts of State come for learning music and they are being taught by great musicians of the State.
The programme was conducted by Dr Anchal Sharma and Kussum Dhar while the renowned singers Ravi Bhan, Naina Saproo and Darmesh Nargotra kept the audience spell bound with their melodious songs.
However, the budding singers who are the students of the institute were no way behind as they also mesmerized the audience during the two hour long function. These young singers who sang Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi songs included Shiveta Saproo, Sudesh Manhas, Anmol, Tushar Mehra, Ankita Hashia, Bunty, Shiv Kumar, Satish Raina, Amit, Manoj and Rajat.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Kusum Dhar.
