SAMBA, Mar 29: Samba Police has arrested a criminal under Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged him in the Central Jail Kot Bhalwal today.
The warrants under PSA against the criminal were issued by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu vide his Office Order Number PITNDPS 01 of 2017 dated 25.03.2017. The PSA was slapped on the criminal namely Bittu Ram alias Bittu Bazigar, 44, son of Bhagat Ram of Swankha Morh, tehsil Vijaypur and district Samba.
Police said Bittu was involved in number of BDPS cases in the district. His arrest is the part of the drive launched against the drug menace in the district under the overall supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba.
Giving details police said a team of P/S Vijaypur as well as police personnel of District Special Brach headed by SHO Vijaypur under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur was constituted to apprehend Bittu who had become a threat to the health and welfare of the people especially younger generation.
Police said he was nabbed while he was travelling in his auto. Police also recovered and seized challies of charas weighing 314 gms from his possession. The drug peddler was posing a serious threat to the health and welfare of the people in general and youth in particular and was expanding his network to ruin the future of young generation. His activities could rise to any extent if he was allowed to go scot free, police added.
It said so to put an end to his prejudicial criminal activities, Samba Police compiled all the Police record of Bittu and prepared his dossier and got issued his warrant under Public Safety Act issued from Divisional Commissioner, Jammu to prevent him from indulging in prejudicial criminal activities and lodged the said detenue in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu today after execution of warrant under PSA issued against him.
