Water sports activities at district level soon: Tak

SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Association will start training of youth in various disciplines of Kayaking and Cannoning at the district level across the State.
“We are planning to hold district level training camps so as to train the youth in water sports”, Member Legislative Council and President Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports (Kayaking and Cannoning Association) Firdous Tak said while interacting with the paddlers undergoing training at Water Sports Center, here.
More than 100 students from various educational institutions are undergoing training at the Center under coach, Bilquis Mir.
The legislator also supervised the selection trials for national dragon boat event being conducted at the Center.
Tak said that Jammu and Kashmir is bestowed with natural water resources making it best place for any kind of water sports.
“Be it flat water or wild water, Jammu and Kashmir offers natural platform for all kind of sport activities”, he said adding that the endure of the present Government under the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has been to make the state best destination for adventure sports and tourism activities.
He said that the Chief Minister’s recent initiative to establish water sports school in Srinagar is one of the moves forward in this direction.
“We are in touch with various government and private institutions in order to spread awareness about this sport. We have also established district clubs across the state and will be starting the training programmes in near future”, he assured.
