PRP seeks Samoon’s intervention in shifting CU campus to Ganderbal

SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Resi-dents of various localities of Ganderbal today met the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Samoon during his visit to the area and apprised him of their problems.
A delegation led by Peoples Republican Party (PRP)led by its president Mir Ghulam Rasool and district president Ghulam Qadir which met Mr Samoon showed concern over the failure of the Central University authorities to start functioning at Ganderbal the proposed site of the University. It said the campus is functioning at Srinagar and it has killed the very purpose of sanctioning the same for Ganderbal.
The PRP leaders seek the immediate intervention of Divisional Commissioner in the matter.
Mr Samoon issued instructions to DC Ganderbal to take necessary steps in this regard and ensure that the university campus starts functioning at the sanctioned site instead Srinagar.
The delegation also demanded that the people whose land has been taken by the University be provided jobs as was earlier promised. They also alleged that some people were trying to grab the university land and their activities be curbed. The Divisional Commissioner gave on spot instructions to DC concerned and other revenue authorities to remove encroachments from the campus area and ensure that no structure is constructed within 100 meters of University boundary.
