It is well understood that a medical institution like Government Medical College and Hospital in Anantnag Kashmir should have all facilities for pathological tests and other diagnostic tests but in the absence of an MRI scan machine , the patients are put to great inconvenience. For getting the requisite test done , the patients have to travel to Srinagar to get it done at GMC there or have it got done with private diagnostic centres which are involving both cost and botheration. Since market mood and environment , now-a-days, are all fast felt and smelt too, due to the absence of this facility at the GMC , many diagnostic centres have come up which obviously are charging the cost as per their whims . Besides, there are host of other important and even mandatory tests required which are not done here due to absence of the proper equipment and infrastructure. Expansion of medical and healthcare infrastructure in the UT is incomplete in its objectives in the absence of providing basic amenities for the patients like the one under reference at our Government Health institutions. Hence , we urge the Health and Medical Education department to arrange installation of the MRI scan machine at the earliest at GMC, Anantnag.
