Protesting Shiv Khori Shrine Board employees clash with Revenue officials

REASI,  Feb 12: On fourth consecutive day of their ongoing strike,  Shiv Khori Shrine Board employees today entered into a clash with the Revenue officials who were specially deputed by the District administration for facilitating the pilgrims.
A Revenue official and two female employees of  the Shrine Board were injured in the  clash at Ransoo base camp where the latter were sitting on protest dharna for their regularization.
In support of the Shrine Board employees,  the local shopkeepers also observed a shut down and joined the  former in dharna.
The injured were hospitalized and their condition was stated to be stable. They were identified as Patwari Shabir Ahmad and the Shrine Board workers Rabina, wife of Nazir Ahmad and Khadma Begum.
The trouble erupted this morning when these Revenue officials were issuing Yatra slips and the Shrine Board workers entered into a verbal dual with them.
Later,  the employees of Shiv Khori Shrine Board called off their 3-day strike after a meeting with Deputy Commissioner late this evening.
The breakthrough was achieved after the the assurance given by the DC about already approved hike in salary, approval of bye-laws and finalisation of proposal for regularisation of employees.
The DC held detailed deliberation in three hour long meeting with all Sarpanchs and Panchs of Ransoo and striking employees of Board where all the matters were discussed threadbare and issues were resolved.
DC impressed upon the officials not to proceed on strike when matters are already under consideration of the board. He appreciated the role played by the PRI members of the area for enabling settlement to call off the strike.
Addl DC Rajinder Singh Tara and ACR Tilak Raj Sharma who are also holding charge of Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Shiv Khori Shrine Board held detailed discussions about various issues of the employees and ensured redressal.
Action is also contemplated against some vested persons who damaged property and manhandled officials.
