Protesting JU students begin indefinite fast

JAMMU, Apr 9: Intensifying their ongoing agitation for immediate transfer of the incumbent Dean Students Welfare, the protesting Jammu University students launched an indefinite hunger strike. Click here to watch video
Along with  Abhinandan Sharma of the Law Department,  who is spearheading the 19-day agitation, four other students today began their fast unto death in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, where a large number of male and female students were also accompanying them.
Amidst raising of slogans and holding placards in their hands, the protesting students reiterated their resolve to continue the ongoing strike till the University authorities remove Prof Satnam Kour as Dean Students Welfare and also concede their other demands.
The protesting students were also addressed by Abhinandan Sharma and others, who reiterated their demands, including wi-fi facility in the hostel, installation of CCTV camera for security reasons, round the clock food facility in the hostel etc, besides removal of Prof Satnam Kour as DSW.
“We shall fast unto death till the University authorities concede our demands, “announced Abhinandan Sharma.
Earlier in the morning, the protesting students boycotted their classes and took out a march on the campus. In the form of a procession, they moved towards the   Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat where a fast unto death was begun.
